Randy Johnson
Founder / President

Many years ago Randy Johnson stood at an alter and felt the call of God to do more than occupy a pew. He had spent years as a successful small business owner, but knew that there was a higher calling. Weeks after standing in the alter at his local church and making this statement, “Here I am Lord if you can use me, use me”, devastating tornados struck Moore OK. Randy found himself coordinating an effort to go and help those affected by this tragedy. With an assembled crew, some borrowed trucks and trailers, and a determined spirit, they embarked on a journey that developed into what is now known as Gods Pit Crew. Over the years God has allowed GPC to grow into one of the most organized and efficient teams in the world of benevolence and disaster relief. One of the greatest joys Randy and Terri have in the opportunity to share about what God has done in their lives and in the ministries of Gods Pit Crew thru speaking engagements.

John was born in Texas and spent his early life there. When he was in high school he moved to Alabama where he graduated from high school, married his high school sweetheart, and decided to attend Auburn University. He studied Textile Engineering and graduated from Auburn in 1980 and began his career working as a supervisor in the textile industry. He continued to work in textile manufacturing management for over twenty years. Then, through an international mission trip to Ukraine, God changed the direction of his life and John accepted a calling into full-time ministry as a youth pastor at Westover Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia in 2002. During his tenure there John would return to school and earn a Masters degree from Liberty University in Religion with an emphasis in pastoral counseling. After spending eleven years as a youth pastor with a heart for international missions and leading many international trips, God again changed the direction of his life through a trip to Haiti. Tammy Jo Hale
Facilities Manager
Tammy Jo grew up in Franklin County, Virginia.  After graduation from Franklin County High School in 1982, she fell in love with woodworking when she learned cabinet making and fine furniture building.  For a time, she worked as a handyman’s helper and then she became the “handy(wo)man.” Tammy was saved as a child and rededicated her life to the Lord in 2010 and says of her experience, “God turned my life right side up.  He took my old life, only to give me one, bigger and better than I could have ever imagined.”

In 2013, while listening to Spirit FM, she learned about an upcoming God’s Pit Crew (GPC) rebuild.  She knew that her skills matched the need and her heart matched the cause but, God’s Pit Crew is in Danville, Virginia and the rebuild was in Moore, Oklahoma and Tammy had no connection or acquaintances in those places.  Not even knowing where she would eat or sleep, she stepped out of her comfort zone, took a huge leap of faith, and signed up to go “BACK TO MOORE” with the group.  Tammy continued to volunteer on builds and local events over the next few years until the Lord opened the door for her to be hired, by GPC, as the facilities manager.  In the summer of 2016 Tammy pulled up her Franklin County roots and moved to the Danville area to fill the position.  She says she is honored to wear the RED SHIRT for the Glory of God.  “He gave me a HUGE family with whom I love to share my life.”
